Surface - Volume ratio

Nature tends to increase the amount of surface (useful for exchanges of matter and energy)  occupying the same volume of space. A cheaper DIY ondulated sheet is useful to increase the evaporation surface keeping the volume fixed

Plants use capillary action to bring water from the rooths to the rest of the plant. Using triangular of black wick textile material it is possible to increase the evaporation surface thanks to capillarity action which brings salt water also in a vertical plane

Optimized orientation

Some natural organisms as leaves or sunflower orient themselves to regulate sunlight/shades to photosynthesise and reduce evapotranspiration. The black wick textile triangular are able to rotate of 180°; it is possible to orient them looking at the position of the Mangrove Still system

Optimezed structure

Nature optimize structure instead of using different materials. Mangrove Still is created with less screws and nuts as possible; the structure is stable thanks to joints and tension forces between each component 

Adaptability

Nature organisms adapt themself depending on the conditions found where they live. Mangrove Still is able to be adapted to find the cheaper solution for the scenario where it does works. The structure is flexible and every component can be substitute to meet the needs required
